God is an enigma! For the majority of us, if we are honest, finding the meaning of God, is an ethereal quest that is incomprehensible. Like many of us, God is introduced through a plethora of Church/Religious venues, Catholic, Lutheran, Baptist, Episcopal, Islam, Judaism, and so forth.

As a wee lad, I asked my mother what is faith in God? The answer I heard and only exacerbated my perplexity was: “You believe that when you turn on the light switch, the light will come on, right?  That is faith”

Over my decades traversing our great country with countless church attendances and meeting with people professing faith, never gave me any better answer then my mother’s.  My soul was literally lost. No amount of success or money brought me peace and serenity.  I was always worried that my realm would come crashing down.  Those nightmares did come true inevitably; albeit my alcoholism fueled my demise into the “abyss-of-love”.

I loved my kids, my wife and my fellow man, but was ever so, so lonely and lost. I certainly attained the “American Dream”, million dollar stock portfolio, Rolex watch achievement award, and other career successes.

Here’s the crux: Jesus said you don’t ascend to greatness, you descend.  After so many ascensions and then finally descending to many despairs, I finally found the Kingdom of Heaven with-in me.  That is where my faith lies. No more “light switch” ambiguity.
